5 POPULAR FESTIVALS OF GOA

VIVA CARNIVAL 

Viva carnival is the most famous Goan festival. Carnival is mostly celebrated in Goa. Carnival is celebrated 3 days and 3 nights during the lent. Carnival is introduced by the Portuguese colonial rule. Carnival includes public celebration including public street party, Entertainment etc. Legendary king momo takes over the opportunity of the festival and the event. 

HOLI

Holi is the festival of colour. It is celebrated to welcome spring. And also a new beginning to release inhibitions and start fresh. Holi is the popular festival of Hindus .on Holi we usually wear white clothes on that day. All age people play with bright, colorful colors. 

SHIGMO 

Shigmo is the festival of hindu community in the state of Goa. This festival celebrated around March. The dates are announced according to the moony calendar. The dates are announced according to the new style calendar. There are two types of Shigmo Dhakto Shigmo and Vhadlo Shigmo. Dhakto Shigmo is mostly celebrated by farmers and Vhadlo Shigmo is celebrated by large scale people 

GANESH CHATURTHI 

Ganesh Chaturthi is fall in late August or early September. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival bringing with in clay of Ganesh symbolishs Ganesh. In Ganesh Chaturthi we give the sweet laddu, modak, etc. Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. The birth of the elephant-headed deity Ganesha the God of wisdom 

CHRISTMAS 

Goa is the best place to celebrated Christmas. During Christmas homes are decorated with lights and beautiful decorations. Family and friends get together to celebrate Christmas. During Christmas children sing Carol's and people of all age .people go for midnight masses to welcome the Jesus christ
